Sadly, only a sample of Triple Base’s six- year exhibition history exists. I’m currently working fixing this as it was not properly maintained. Triple Base exhibition schedule was designed to support solo, site specific installations in our store front space on 24th Street in San Francisco. In many cases our curatorial role was to help develop the idea, provide exposure, write contextual material, develop programs, connect working partners, and help with installation design. Sharing equal responsibility with my co-director Dina Pugh from 2006-2011. We worked on many exhibitions and projects together. Often we would rotate, overseeing exhibitions of solo artists and then working together on group shows. I designed several large programmatic events and projects myself before I left in 2011.
Triple Base artists were inspirational, they pushed themselves to reinvent and to challenge expectations of previous works. They were devoted to their art practice as well as technically skilled in drawing and painting. Storytellers and visionaries, they knew how to survive in the world as a creative person. I am grateful for my time with each of them.
All the work we did at Triple Base Gallery with guest artists and performers was remarkable. Over the years we had the most devoted and loving staff of volunteers, they were our backbone, truly. A special thanks to my friend and business partner Dina Pugh.
